COMPRESSED LEARNING

A curriculum tailored to you

The coaching methodology of The Blueprint is rooted in a customizable curriculum built around seven core pillars.

The 7 pillar curriculum features a central pillar of Graded Performance, with six key pillars integrated into performance pieces.

This methodology is built on the principle that real musical growth happens through Applied Learning—where skills are developed in the context of actual performances rather than through abstract concepts or isolated courses.

By embedding these specific pillars directly into playing, students gain a deeper, more intuitive mastery of their craft. The coach plays a key role in this process, strategically introducing and reinforcing each pillar at the right time to ensure personalized, progressive development.

ACTIVE LEARNING COLLECTIVE

Explore, learn and grow together.

The Blueprint’s community learning environment enables you to interact with your peers, share experiences, ask questions, and provide support to one another.

Our community platform allows you to share insights, celebrate wins, and stay accountable with fellow bass players from around the world. This positive, motivating space helps you build confidence, stay inspired, and enjoy a real sense of belonging as you progress.

You’ll also have access to fun community challenges, catch up on any missed live calls, and revisit an ever-growing library of past seminars and masterclasses—so you never miss a moment of learning.

It all starts with your vision and goals

Using your bass-playing ambitions as a north star, The Blueprint will help you to become the bass player you always dreamed of being.

01 — Discovery call

The Blueprint Program’s onboarding experience is designed to set you up for success from day one.

During your discovery call, the admissions team will personally welcome you and take the time to understand your skill level, musical preferences, and learning style and goals.

Following the call you’ll be expertly matched with a coach who closely aligns with you—ensuring a truly personalized coaching experience tailored to your goals.

02 — In-depth Assessment

Next, you'll meet your coach, who meets you exactly where you’re at.

They’ll assess your current level—strengths, weaknesses, gaps in knowledge, background (e.g., maybe you know your modes but don’t know how to actually apply them musically to create bass lines).

From there, they’ll work backwards from your goals (jamming with local pros, writing your own bass lines, feeling confident stepping into a last-minute gig, etc.) to create a personalised plan based on your current level, goals, and how much time you have to practice.

All you need to do is block out time on your calendar—your coach will show you what to practice, for how long, and what to focus on based on your goals and where you’re at.

03 — Personal Learning Plan

Your coach maps out the journey ahead, showing you exactly what to practice, and for how long.

We treat your Learning Plan as a living document, one that can be altered and updated as you move through your Blueprint journey.

Your coach will talk with you about the time you have available to practice, something they will bear in mind whilst creating the plan.

Your active participation in lessons and during your own practice time, will be integral to effectiveness of the plan and your progress in the program.

How our students learn

Combining a personalised plan with 1:1 coaching, group bass clinics, live masterclasses, and scheduled assessment periods, The Blueprint includes everything you need for steady growth.

Every Blueprint journey is as unique as the player taking it. From your very first session, we focus on your goals, your sound, and your playing.

Your Initial Assessment and Personalised Learning Plan become the foundation for a journey built just for you — guided by a coach who knows exactly how to help you unlock new levels of skill, confidence, and creativity.

But coaching is just the start. Alongside it, you’ll be immersed in a rich mix of live seminars, skill-building clinics, inspiring masterclasses, and an active bass community offering feedback, encouragement, and connection.

Every aspect of The Blueprint is engineered to give you a balanced, structured yet flexible path forward, and the long-term support to make steady, substantial progress toward your goals.

Group Seminar

In addition to one-to-one coaching, you’ll also join weekly Bass Clinics and Seminars.

These are powerful group sessions designed to deepen your understanding, sharpen your skills, and expose you to new concepts that truly elevate your bass playing.

When your learning is this focused, this supported, and this personal—real progress isn’t just possible, it’s inevitable.

A Week in the Life of a Blueprint Student

It’s been some months since I joined the Blueprint program, and honestly, it’s hard to describe how much it’s already shifted my whole approach to playing.

Every week feels super intentional, like I’m not just spinning my wheels anymore. Here's what a typical week or month looks like from inside the program...

Each week, I sit down with my coach for a 1:1 lesson—it’s way more than just a check-in. We dive deep into whatever I’m working on, but through the lens of the 7 Pillars.

The coaching isn’t cookie-cutter at all; everything shifts depending on how I’m progressing. Every lesson is recorded, which is such a gift, because I can revisit stuff I missed the first time. I also get full lesson notes, tailored practice recommendations, listening lists—basically, a roadmap that feels built just for me.

Between lessons, I can DM my coach through the app whenever I hit a wall or want to share a win. It’s a total game-changer.

My main curriculum is integrated with the 7 Pillars—Performance, Technique, Fingerboard Knowledge, Time/Groove, Harmony/Theory, Specialist Skills, and Ear Training.

Everything I do—lessons, clinics, even my own practice—maps back to those pillars. It’s the first time I’ve felt like I’m building all the foundations at once, rather than just chasing random licks on YouTube.

Once a week, I meet with a small group of other students (usually 5 or 6 of us) in a live seminar run by one of the coaches.

There’s a theme each week—sometimes it's a challenge to work on, sometimes it’s a discussion around a topic like tone or groove, sometimes it’s even a gear demo. We share what we’ve been working on, ask questions, and get feedback in a totally safe space.

Live Clinic

I try to join two or three of the weekly Blueprint clinics. These are hour-long sessions on specific core topics—things like time and groove, sight reading, transcription, harmony, ear training.

They’re structured but also really open, so we get to ask questions and even play along. It’s helped me zero in on stuff I used to avoid.

Group Seminar

Once a month, there's a big Blueprint masterclass with a pro from the industry. These are wild.

We’ve had people like Nicole Row, Stu Hamm, Jon Button, Sean Hurley, Rich Brown—all giving full-on clinics, telling stories, breaking down lines, sharing their process.

It’s inspiring and grounding at the same time. You realise these players aren’t superhuman—they’ve just been putting in smart, consistent work.

Masterclass

The Blueprint's private community is where everything connects. It’s where we all post videos, ask questions, share practice clips, talk about gigs, pedals, albums—whatever.

It’s like a mini social media world just for bass players, and everyone’s incredibly supportive.

I’ve posted a few videos of me working through lines and gotten amazing feedback within minutes. No trolls, no ego.

About halfway through the program, we did a midterm assessment—super chill but thorough. I was assessed on fretboard knowledge, mechanics, sight reading, ear training, and more.

It wasn’t a test—it was more like a snapshot of where I was at, with detailed feedback from two external examiners. I got a certificate, but more importantly, I got clarity on what to keep pushing on.

Just, wow. A full three-day in-person event with the coaches and students. Workshops, masterclasses, jamming, hanging—it felt like a bass retreat and reunion rolled into one. I left that event completely lit up.

While the core Blueprint experience happens online, we also know the power of connecting in person.

That’s why each year, Blueprint students have the option to attend an exclusive Blueprint Live event. It’s a chance to meet the team (including Scott and/or Ian Allison), connect with special guest artists, and hang out with fellow members of the Blueprint community.

These events are a joyful celebration of everything we love about bass, music, and community. A space to play, learn, and be inspired—together.

THE ONE-YEAR MODEL

What our students think about The Blueprint

Join the hundreds of bass players who’ve already leveled up with The Blueprint—and see why they’re raving about it.

Absolutely exceeded my expectations. Outstanding program”

– Blueprint Student

In 1 year I did more than I've done in the past 10 or 20 years in terms of growth”

– Jon N. (Blueprint Student)

The biggest thing for me in Blueprint is the structure, the personalisation and also the accountability. Like working in a classroom, having homework to do and having to accomplish it before the next lesson, is really important to me.”

– Ariel T. (Blueprint Student)

You're working with a world-class musician. It's a whole other ball game–and it's humbling–but at the same time, if you apply yourself you get a lot out of it.”

– Jon N. (Blueprint Student)

The coaching aspect of Blueprint was the key for me. That was the number 1 thing that made it all worth-while.”

– Dan M. (Blueprint Student)

It's a no-brainer. The level of tuition you get and the amount of information that is available, which is just at such a high level. And if you look at all the people involved, coaches, students, there's so much resource there to move yourself forward as a player.”

– Ash H. (Blueprint Student)

My coach has allowed me to follow my own path. If I listen to myself playing now, it sounds like me. That was quite important to me to nurture my own style and not be a carbon copy of someone else. That individual coaching really makes a difference.”

– Kiru R. (Blueprint Student)

To be honest it's the best online coaching. I can't recommend it highly enough. There's nothing else on the internet like it.”

– Fran E. (Blueprint Student)

I have become reacquainted with what I used to do long ago. And it has been one of the best things I've done in a long time.”

– Eric K. (Blueprint Student)

I play with several bands, I've gotten compliments with my timing and groove and just my overall confidence performing in those bands, has gone through the roof. ”

– Troy G. (Blueprint Student)
