The Tragic Tale of Steve
The “almost a bassist”
This is Steve.

Steve didn’t grow up with music lessons. No theory drills. No formal training.
He just picked up a bass one day and thought, “Let’s see what happens.”
Progress was slow. Sloppy. But something about it clicked.
The sound. The feel. The idea of becoming “a bass guy.”
It gave him a buzz.
He started jamming through YouTube videos, copying tabs, grabbing random exercises online. Bought a few books. He even signed up for a course or two that promised “results in 30 days.”
(Spoiler: didn’t happen.)
But still — he was fired up.
Bass was his thing. Until life got louder.
Then reality set in.
Deadlines. Early mornings. Bills.
Bass slowly got bumped down the list.
He thought he’d circle back to it when things calmed down. But things never really do, do they?
By Friday, he was wiped.
By Sunday, he was behind on everything else.
Bass became a guilt trip instead of a getaway.
When he did pick it up, he didn’t even know where to start.
One day it was arpeggios, the next it was some random lesson on “how to unlock your fretboard" or “how to groove like Pino Palladino.”
But nothing stuck. Nothing solved the problems he actually had.
It felt like spinning in circles.
He kept playing the same riffs he learned years ago.
Still couldn’t finish the full songs.
Still didn’t sound the way he wanted to sound.
So… time to try some real 1-1 lessons he thought!
He told his teacher he wanted to:
- Play with great technique so he doesn’t sound messy
- Move confidently around the fretboard
- Actually sound like he knows what he’s doing
He wasn’t chasing fame or IG followers.
He just wanted to stop feeling like a beginner after all these years.
The lessons helped. For a bit.
But they lacked structure.
And every week it started with, “So what do you wanna do today?”
Then came the group jam session.
Other players crushed it. Steve didn’t even plug in.
He froze. He felt out of place.
He stopped going.
Instead, he bought himself a dream bass — the kind he always wanted.
It gave him a temporary high. But in reality it didn’t fix anything.
⏩ Fast forward 3 years...
Steve still plays — but he doesn’t feel like he’s improving.
He’s not practicing. He’s just killing time.
Same habits. Same patterns. Same doubts.
He’s tired of guessing. Tired of wasting time.
He doesn’t want more theory videos.
He doesn’t want $100 lessons that leave him feeling directionless.
He doesn’t want to keep “winging it.”
He wants:
Steve’s not dabbling anymore.
He’s ready to actually get better.
Sound familiar? You're not alone.
If Steve’s story felt like someone's been reading your bass journal, you're not alone.
I've worked with thousands of players at every level, and this pattern shows up again and again.
Same frustrations. Same plateaus. Same feeling that you're somehow missing the key that unlocks everything.
This is what usually happens:

But here's what's important:
The problem isn't your talent. It isn't your commitment. And it definitely isn't your bass.
The problem is that you've been piecing together a bass education from fragments – without seeing the complete picture.
A quick note about who I usually work with in this program…
The typical students I work with are:
- Adults between the ages of 25–65 (although we absolutely have younger and older students)
- At an intermediate level (also high-level beginners too — but no noobs)
- Very passionate about bass, but stuck in a hole they’re struggling to get out of
They want to:
They want to go beyond just learning random song riffs and go deeper into the REAL mechanics of musicianship.
They want to become what I call a "Full Stack Bassist" — a player that's confident in almost any musical situation, has great time and feel, knows how to create bass lines and fills, and can even navigate different styles of music without breaking a sweat.
Now who am I and why should you care?
Well, you probably already know who I am — do I really have to explain this?
Go on then ;-)

My name is Scott Devine.
- I’ve been playing bass since 1996
- Music has been my entire life for the last 30 yrs (there was no Plan B)
- I’ve got over 2 million followers online who like my playing and teaching style
- I’ve lectured in fancy music schools
- I have two awesome kids and a wife who puts up with me leaving my bass gear all over the house
- I’ve got an 18-month-old Boston Terrier called Daisy (who’s like my 3rd child!)
- And I’m OBSESSED with teaching bass!
Why you're struggling
Let’s talk about the problems most bass players face:
The cause of these problems?
Fragmented Learning.
Let’s be real: You’re not stuck because you’re lazy.
You’re not unmotivated.
And you’re definitely not “bad at bass.”
You’re stuck because you’ve been trying to learn in fragments.
A cool riff here.
A tasty lick there.
A “game-changing” YouTube video on modes that assumes you already know five other things you’ve never even heard of.
Sound familiar?
This is what modern bass learning looks like: a chaotic pile of disconnected, fragmented ideas, delivered at random, and all out of order.
It’s like you’ve been handed a giant pile of jigsaw pieces — but no box.
You have no idea what the final picture is supposed to look like.
And every time you scroll past another “hot tip” on Instagram or buy a random course, it’s like someone walks over and drops yet another puzzle piece on the pile.
More pieces, less clarity.
Even worse? Sometimes you’re learning the right stuff — but at the wrong time.
Like when someone decides to dive into the modes 12 months after buying their first bass.
Are you kidding me?!?
Yeah, modes are useful… eventually. But without context? Without the foundation? It’s just confusion disguised as progress.
And confusion kills momentum.
You feel overwhelmed.
You don’t know what to focus on.
You start questioning whether you’re even cut out for this.
This kind of scattered learning doesn’t just stall your progress — it can actually make you worse.
Here’s the truth:
Most bass players aren’t stuck because they’re not trying hard enough.
They’re stuck because they’re learning the right things in the wrong order, with no system and no plan.
And you can’t build mastery like that.
You need structure.
You need strategy.
You need a clear picture on the box.
That’s what this program gives you.

"This is THE best investment in your bass playing, and your musicianship. If you put in the time, it will really make you a better bass player and a better musician."
— Antonio
Enrollment closes THIS Sunday, June 15th — don’t miss your chance!

This program has just one purpose —
To completely transform you into the ultimate Full Stack Bassist, in just 12 months.
When you join The Full Stack Bassist program, you’re not just signing up for some random collection of lessons — you’re plugging into a complete, proven system designed to turn frustrated intermediate bassists into confident, capable full stack musicians.
And yes, you get lifetime access — because real progress doesn’t happen in 3 weeks. This is long-term growth for people who are serious.
Everything you get:
After completing the Full Stack bassist, I noticed a significant improvement in my technique. The lectures helped me develop much better timing and precision, and I now feel much more comfortable playing along with different rhythms and grooves.
— Alex Ferro
But wait a minute…
What's a full stack bassist?!
Well, a Full-Stack Bassist isn’t just someone who plays bass — they’re the kind of player every band needs and every musician respects.
Here’s what sets them apart:

In short?
A Full-Stack Bassist is the complete package.
And that’s exactly what this program is designed to turn you into.
And I’ll be honest, when I designed this program, I had to be ruthless.
I cut everything that wasn’t absolutely essential.
That means:
Because let’s be honest — none of that will actually make you a great bassist.
Instead, this brand-new curriculum walks you step-by-step through the core elements every serious bassist needs to master:
So you can play great bass lines… with killer timing and groove… across virtually any genre, style, or chord progression.
And here's the best part:
We dedicate an entire deep-dive module to each of these core elements.
Each module is practically a full course in itself.
And each module is divided up into roughly half a dozen individual lectures which also have supplementary assignment challenges that we’ll talk about in just a moment.
But before we look at the curriculum, let’s look at this program from a 10,000 foot view.
The Full Stack Bassist Program has 3 key components:
01. A World-Class Curriculum

Let’s be honest: Most online courses feel like someone threw a bunch of tips, tricks, and buzzwords into a blender and called it “curriculum.” This isn’t that.
This is a highly structured, step-by-step curriculum that starts around the high-beginner to intermediate level... and progresses all the way to topics you’d cover in a legit music degree program.
The entire course is split into 8 focused modules, each one stacked with lectures that build on each other in a logical sequence.
Inside each module you’ll find:
You’re not just learning cool tricks — you’re building a complete, connected understanding of the instrument and how to express yourself on it.
02. Real-Time Weekly Guidance

Each week, you’ll have access to live, hour-long guided practice sessions hosted by Craig Strain and Anthony Muthurajah (both trained SBL instructors and total bad ass bassists!)
Multiple time slots across global time zones mean no matter where you live, you can join in.
This is real, hands-on support — every single week where you:
Can’t make a session? No problem. Every session is recorded so you can follow along later — still getting the benefit, minus the calendar stress.
Honestly, this piece alone is worth the price of admission. Because you don’t just need more information — you need implementation.
And I gotta say, these sessions are a LOT of fun.
03. A Supportive Community

Let’s be real: trying to stay motivated on your own is tough. One day you’re fired up, the next you’re watching a guy on Instagram play the same lick 50x faster than you and suddenly you're researching local firewood laws to see if your bass qualifies.
That’s why this program includes access to a private community of dedicated students — and it's all inside a clean, easy-to-use mobile app you can access anytime.
This isn’t a dusty old forum. It's not a chaotic Facebook group. It's a focused space designed to keep you connected, motivated, and moving forward.
Inside the community, you’ll be able to:
Need a quick pep talk before a practice session? Open the app.
Curious how someone else tackled a tough lesson? Open the app.
Want to post a video of your playing and get actual feedback (not "🔥🔥🔥 bro")?
Yup — open the app.
You're never doing this alone.
We built the community experience to be just as valuable as the lessons themselves — because having the right people around you? That’s rocket fuel for progress.
So let’s recap:
No fluff. No filler. Just the good stuff.
Now, here’s a detailed breakdown of all the modules and curriculum.
The Guided Practice Sessions keep me playing and introduce additional material which is of great benefit. There is so much great content in the course that I can come back to for a long time to come.
— Brian

Inside The Full Stack Bassist Program
A one-of-a-kind Full Stack Bassist curriculum
Bass Line Creation Mastery
This is where your bass playing gets real.
In these two powerhouse modules, we combine the two most essential pillars of bass line creation — chord tones + chromaticism and scales + modes — into a single, crystal-clear system you can rely on in any style, any groove, any bandstand.
You’ll ditch the “random root notes” forever and start building lines that sound intentional, musical, and deeply bad ass — all while training your ear, hands, and creative instincts to work together like a true Full-Stack Bassist.
Inside Modules 1–2:
- 11 no-fluff, in-depth video lectures covering the most powerful tools in the bass line creation arsenal
- 30+ real-world examples so you always know what to play — and why it works
- The “Matrix Method” for mixing chord tones and chromatics like a pro
- The 5 most useful scales and modes — taught musically, not mechanically
- Line-by-line breakdowns of classic bass moments to help you steal like an artist
- Tips for turning boring scale runs into melodic, meaningful phrases
- Backing tracks that feel like a gig (not homework)
- Easy-to-read tab and notation for every single example
By the end of this module, you’ll be creating bass lines with taste, power, and total confidence — not guessing, not hoping… just owning your role as the foundation of the band.
The Pro Bassist's Technique Toolkit
This isn’t about speed. Or slap acrobatics. Or “10-finger tapping” (unless you want that later). This is about the handful of pro-level techniques that make your playing sound clean, confident, and groove hard — no matter what style you’re in.
You know that player whose hands move like butter and sound like thunder?Yeah — we’re making you that player.
Inside Modules 3–4:
- 10 essential lectures covering the core mechanics of great playing
- 40+ examples showing you exactly how to practice — no guesswork
- Plucking and fretting hand optimization (for speed and comfort)
- How to mute properly (aka: how to not sound like a lawnmower)
- Articulation tips for making your lines sing
- Crash courses in both pick and slap technique
- And of course, backing tracks to groove it all into your muscle memory
By the end of these modules, your technique will no longer be holding you back.
It’ll be lifting you up.
Groove, Time Feel & The Rhythm Section
Let’s be honest: without great time feel, your notes are meaningless.
These two modules are a deep dive into what really makes a bassist sound pro — rhythm, groove, space, subdivision, feel. Ian is going to walk you through all of it.
Inside Modules 5–6:
- 9 power-packed lectures on groove and time mastery
- The rhythmic grid, deconstructed and rebuilt into your DNA
- When to play with the kick, when to go rogue
- Straight vs. swung — and everything in between
- How to use space to say more with less
- The secrets behind playing ahead and behind the beat
- Advanced metronome tricks to sharpen your internal clock
By the end of this module, you’ll stop feeling rhythm — and start owning it.
Style Analysis Masterclasses
This one’s simple: If you want to be a Full Stack Bassist, you need to know how to sound authentic across a range of styles.
Whether you’re jamming blues, laying it down for a soul gig, or getting funky in a wedding band — these modules have got your back.
Inside Modules 7–8:
- 6 genre masterclasses packed with tools, tone tips, and groove formulas
- Deconstructions of the greats (from Jamerson to Jaco)
- How to dial in the tone and feel for each style
- Style-specific playalong tracks and lines to internalize the vocabulary
By the end of this module, you’ll be versatile, hireable, and dangerous in any musical setting.
Since beginning the Full Stack Bassist program my approach to creating bass lines has completely changed. Before I used to think overthink things, but now I just think of patterns and I experiment with them through the modes.
— Danny

Mastery Assignments and your Final Mission
Let’s be real: just going through these lessons will put you light-years ahead of the average player.
You’ll groove harder. Think sharper. Play smarter.
And with lifetime access to every lesson, you can revisit the gold anytime you want.
But we didn’t build this for “pretty good.”
We built this for transformation.
That’s why we added something extra. Something powerful.Something that ensures you’re not just watching — you’re becoming.
🧠 Mastery Assignments

To supercharge your progress, select modules include special Mastery Assignments — laser-focused challenges designed to deepen your skills, sharpen your instincts, and give you rock-solid confidence before moving to the next level.
No more guessing “Did I get this?”
You’ll know. And you’ll feel it in your fingers.
🚀 Your Final Project and Full-Stack Graduation

Think of this as your bass graduation capstone — the moment you put your new skills to the test and bring everything together.
Here’s how it works:
Then, when you’re ready?
You’ll record your parts, submit them for review, and earn your Official Full-Stack Bassist Certificate of Completion.
🏆 Real Songs. Real Progress. Real Proof.
By the end of the program, you won’t just feel like a new player.
You’ll have the recordings to prove it — to yourself, to your bandmates, or even just to your friends who still think you “just play root notes.” ;-)
Because being a Full-Stack Bassist isn’t just about what you play — it’s about how you think, how you hear, how you prepare, and how fast you can adapt in real-world musical situations.

What our students are saying about The Full Stack Bassist Program
After a couple of months down the road of this program, I finally would call myself a real bassist. I got the confidence to build my own bass lines, which really have meat, timing, groove and technique, plus I got so much better and I learned a bunch of vocabulary, too."
– Christian
The Full Stack Bassist improved my confidence and also my know-how. Not only did my bass technique, fretboard knowledge and theoretical skills improve, but my songwriting improved too! Also the speed at which I learn songs has shot up!"
– Randy
Since I started with the Full Stack Bassist, it gave me eye-opening pointers to my years of bass playing. At jam sessions, the better musicians now give me a nod of appreciation mid-song. Some even complimented me afterward — things like 'you're playing much smoother lately' and 'you're not overplaying.' Best program ever!"
– Peter
Since starting the Full Stack Bassist, there has been an exponential increase in my confidence!"
– Dan
What’s improved or changed for you since taking the course? – It sounds dumb to say this, but… EVERYTHING.”

– Vicky
If you want to become a well-rounded bassist who other band members respect, and you're willing to put the time in — this is the way to go. Worth every penny!"

– Alex
This is the best value for money! Two online sessions a week, a stack of material, a supportive community and a wealth of information. It covers absolutely everything!"
– Natalie
If you're ready to get serious about becoming a great all-rounder on the bass, this course is worth every penny. It glued together decades of disconnected ideas into a cohesive learning experience that cuts out the fat."
– Randy

This format has helped thousands of students avoid burnout, stay consistent, and actually finish what they start. And when it comes to mastering bass, that consistency is everything.
This isn’t for total noobs, but if you're a motivated beginner, hell yes. The first modules are designed to lay rock-solid foundations. You’ll learn the right things in the right order — and you’ll avoid the years of frustration most bass players go through by going it alone.
This program is designed for real life. If you can carve out just 20–40 minutes per day (based on 4 days a week), you’ll see incredible progress. Remember — you’ve got lifetime access, so you can dial it up or down depending on your schedule.
You’ll get exclusive access to live Zoom-style sessions led by our pro mentors (Anthony and Craig) who will guide you through practice routines, give real-time feedback, and answer your questions. It’s like having a private coach… but better, because you’re also learning from your fellow bassists.
A) Private lessons often lack structure (big time!) — this program gives you a proven step-by-step path.
B) You're not limited to the teacher’s often limited knowledge (the unfortunate reality is many bass teachers have limited experience and expertise)
C) It’s way more affordable. A year of weekly lessons could cost you over $3,000… and still not give you what this program delivers. This is full-stack learning at a fraction of the price.
You get a 365-day money-back guarantee. That’s right — a full year to go all in, try it out, and see the transformation for yourself. If it’s not for you? Get your money back, no questions asked.
Fair. But just know this:
- You’ve got that 365-day guarantee — literally no risk.
- And enrollment only opens once per year. Miss it now and you’ll be waiting a long time (while other players level up without you).
Are you crazy? 😜
This isn’t just another course. This is a full-blown transformational learning system that took almost 2yrs to build. Think about what you’d pay for music school or years of private lessons — and then realize this gets you there, faster, cheaper, and with way more flexibility.
You're gonna be in awesome company. Our students include:
- Motivated higher level beginners
- People who played before but took a long break
- Professionals with a bass obsession
- Semi-pro gigging musicians who want to seriously uplevel their skills
- Music students and passionate learners
- Folks considering music school but wanting an elite, real-world alternative
We keep it real — this program is not for:
- Tire kickers
- Shortcut seekers
- Serial information hoarders who never actually practice
- People just looking to memorize a few songs without learning the “why” behind the music
This is for players who want to build mastery and deep understanding, not just dabble.
This isn’t just a course. It’s a system.
Most programs just throw a bunch of random content at you and hope it sticks. The Full-Stack Bassist Intensive is designed with a clear outcome in mind: taking you from wherever you are right now to a confident, musically fluent, professional-level bassist — with structure, accountability & results baked in.
Absolutely — and your teacher might thank you.
This program gives you access to a complete musical development path that most teachers can’t offer solo. It’s the difference between having one coach… and having an elite team behind you. Use it to supplement your current lessons, or go all-in and make this your primary path — either way, your playing wins.
No stress. No pressure.
You’ve got lifetime access. There’s no “behind” — only progress at your own pace. Whether you take 12 months or 2 years to finish, the transformation is still yours.
The Full-Stack path meets you where you are.
This isn’t about being “good enough” — it’s about getting the tools, support, and guidance to become the bassist you want to be. All you need is commitment and curiosity. We’ll take care of the rest.
