Let me tell you a tragic story — with a twist — about 2 bass players named Matt and Frank
I used to run into both of them at gigs when I first moved to Leeds to try and make it as a professional bass player. And what I witnessed taught me one of the most important lessons of my career.
In fact, this one lesson is what finally made me understand the real secret to creating powerful bass lines and grooves with a huge pocket.
- So if you want to be able to instantly come up with killer bass grooves in virtually any style of music…
- If you want to develop an amazing sense of rhythm, timing, and feel so your bass parts consistently lock in with the band and bring the song to life…
- And if you want to walk into virtually any gig, jam session, or recording studio with confidence that you’ll be able to nail your parts — no matter what gets thrown your way…
Then pay close attention.
The answer you’ve been looking for all along may just be at the end of this tragic story (with a twist)
Here’s what happened…
When I moved to Leeds in the early 2000s, you could go out every night of the week and see multiple bands playing rock, funk, jazz, and more. There were jam sessions all over town where you could go and sit in with some of the greatest musicians.
It was a blast!
And as you’d expect with so many musicians all in one place, there was a mix of mediocre players, good players, and great players. Plus one legend.
His name? Matt.
Matt was hands-down the busiest and most sought-after bassist in town.
Now you’re probably thinking that Matt would tear around the bass like Victor Wooten after drinking a whole pot of coffee, right?
But that wasn't Matt — at all.
There was no flash. No tricks.
Yet everyone wanted to work with him. He was the first-call bassist for every great gig in town.
And the reason is simple…
His groove and time were impeccable. His knowledge of music was deep. He could play in many different styles incredibly confidently, and just oozed awesome.
That’s a bassist who has total command of their role as a musician and member of the rhythm section. And who can instantly come up with the perfect grooves, riffs, and fills to support the song in almost any genre or situation.
No double-thumbing or two-hand tapping required!
Just a powerful understanding of rhythm, harmony, and a few simple — but vital — playing techniques.
But it took me a while to realize what made Matt so special
It wasn’t until I saw another bassist around town that it really sunk in for me. Let’s call this other bassist Frank.
But whenever it came time to play along with other musicians, his bass parts never really fit in. He couldn’t really create a tight pocket with the drummer. And even with the help of tablature, his bass lines never sounded nearly as good as the originals.
Plus any time he had to come up with his own grooves, all he could do was play the root notes for each chord. He didn’t know how to do anything else.
So unlike Matt, Frank struggled to land even the smallest gigs in town (and it wasn’t pretty when he did…)
I would see Frank play in the music store where he worked during the day doing all the flashy stuff that he’d been practicing. And some of the other musicians hanging out would be impressed. He sounded pretty good.
So he would get invited to play at their next gig…
Where he would promptly crash-and-burn — “trainwreck” style as they say here in the UK.
Because no amount of pyrotechnic licks and fills would make up for the fact that Frank didn’t know how to come up with solid grooves for even the most basic chord progressions.
Instead, he’d fake his way through it — one painful song after another.
Then he’d never hear from the musicians who invited him to the gig ever again.
But here’s the twist…
I’m Frank.
This story is about me. And how I kept watching Matt get calls for the best gigs in town. Including for some of the gigs that I had tried and failed to take myself.
While I continued to be stuck on the sidelines, struggling to fit in.
In fact, without Matt I wouldn’t be here telling this story today.
Because after watching Matt succeed where I had failed over and over, it finally hit me.
I realized that I had been focusing on all the wrong stuff — and that none of the flashy tricks mattered if I didn’t master the essential skills it takes to be a confident, Full-Stack Bassist.
I had to accept that — to make true progress in my role as a bass player — it was time for me to ignore the party tricks and pyrotechnics.
And to double-down on the few essential skills it takes to become a Full-Stack Bassist, instead.
The moral of the story
Now maybe you can relate to my early obsession with the flashy licks and party tricks.
Or maybe you already have no interest in that stuff.
Either way, the moral of the story is that you do not need to be the second coming of Jaco to play killer riffs, fills, and grooves.
You just need to master a few essential aspects of rhythm and harmony, plus a few simple — but vital — playing techniques.
There’s just one problem…
That’s easier said than done.
Why most bassists fail to reach “Full-Stack” status — plus what to do about it
And the sad truth is, there’s no way you can shortcut this process by yourself.
That’s because it is literally impossible for you to know — in advance — which elements of rhythm, harmony, and technique come up all the time. And which ones you will rarely if ever need in an actual song or session.
You first have to go through the grind of learning hundreds of songs and playing thousands of gigs. And only then can you look back and separate the trivial many from the essential few.
However most people just don’t have the time for that. Which is why so few bass players ever reach Full-Stack status.
Instead, your playing eventually hits a plateau.
- And it seems like no matter what you do, you continue to have trouble playing powerful grooves with a killer pocket.
- You continue to feel like virtually all the bass lines you come up with are tired, boring, and predictable.
And you continue to get nervous every time you turn up to a gig, jam session, or recording studio, afraid that you won’t be able to keep up with even minor unexpected requests that come your way.
Do you want to be able to instantly come up with killer bass grooves in virtually any style of music?
Do you want to develop an amazing sense of rhythm, timing, and feel so your playing consistently locks in with the band and brings the song to life?
And do you want to have the confidence that you can walk into virtually any gig, jam session, or recording studio and absolutely nail your bass lines — no matter what gets thrown your way?
Good!
Because I’m revealing an important new concept to help you achieve all this and more today
I call it “The Full-Stack Bassist.”
A Full-Stack Bassist is someone who has total command of their role as a musician and member of the rhythm section. And who can instantly come up with the perfect grooves, riffs, and fills to support the song in almost any genre or situation.
And the best part is, you do not need to be the second coming of Jaco to become a Full-Stack Bassist.
You don’t have to spend time worrying about double-thumbing … two-hand tapping … or any other “party tricks.”
All you need is a solid understanding of rhythm and harmony, plus a few simple — but vital — playing techniques.
And I’m going to show you exactly what they are in a moment.
Because I’ve heard from countless bassists who wish they could play with the amazing timing, feel, and creativity of a Full-Stack Bassist. But they just wind up lost, confused, or stuck in a rut somewhere along the way.
And it’s not really their fault.
Why most bassists fail to reach “Full-Stack” status — plus what to do about it
Because at first glance, it can seem like there is just so much you have to know.
- For example, there are 12 major scales — each with 7 modes. That comes out to 84 scales alone. And when you add in other variations like harmonic minor, it’s enough to make your head spin.
- Then there’s all the chords that you can build from those scales and modes. And knowing what notes to play over what chords … what notes to avoid over those chords … and when not to play anything at all!
- Not to mention the sense of rhythm, timing, and playing techniques you need to know so your bass lines unite the rest of the band and bring the song to life.
Well, now I have some good news — and some bad news.
The good news… and the bad news
The good news is that becoming a Full-Stack Bassist is actually not as complicated as it seems.
The truth is, despite the massive list of topics you could choose to focus on, there are just a few essential ones that come up over and over again in at least 90% of the songs and musical situations you will face.
Which means if you can master these relatively few essential topics, you can streamline your journey to “Full-Stack” Status.
But now for the bad news…
There’s no way you can shortcut this process by yourself.
That’s because it is literally impossible for you to know — in advance — which elements of rhythm, harmony, and technique come up all the time. And which ones you will rarely if ever need in an actual song or session.
You first have to go through the grind of learning hundreds of songs and playing in thousands of gigs. And only then can you look back and separate the trivial many from the essential few.
However most people just don’t have the time for that. Which is why so few bass players ever reach Full-Stack status.
Instead, your playing eventually hits a plateau. And if you’re like a lot of the other bass players I hear from, it goes something like this…
Where most bass players get stuck for years … for decades … or even forever
- You can play all the right notes at what seems like the correct time … But something still keeps you from locking in with the drums and creating a killer groove.
- You’re pretty confident playing basic keys like E minor and C major … But when someone says Bb … or Ab … or G#, you don’t know where to start and feel like a rabbit in headlights.
- You don’t mind when the ballads and mid-tempo songs show up on the setlist … But the moment you have to play a fast-paced tune, your bass lines wind up full of missed notes and buzzing frets.
- You can play a bunch of classic bass lines … But any time you try to create your own riffs and fills, they come out sounding boring and predictable.
- You’re comfortable at home playing along with your favorite songs or backing tracks … But you feel a gnawing sense of insecurity whenever you show up to play with other musicians — since you don’t really know how to nail your responsibility as a bassist to unite a song’s rhythm, melody, and harmony.
- You can learn a song by looking up the tab online and watching YouTube tutorials … But you’d have no idea where to begin if you had to chart out a song and write your own bass parts from scratch. At best, you spend the whole tune clinging on to root notes for dear life.
You know one way to create a strong groove is to play along with the kick drum … But you don’t know any of the other cool ways you can create a huge pocket — without simply following the kick.
Dear fellow bass player,
I almost took this secret for playing killer bass grooves to the grave.
You see, I had major shoulder surgery a few months ago. And there was a small — but very real — risk that I might never be able to even pick up my bass again. Let alone play it.
So before I went into the operating room, I wanted to make sure that I shared this secret with bass players like you.
That way, even in the worst-case scenario, I could be proud of the last thing I did before I was forced to retire.

The secret to getting out of this rut is finally here
I’m happy to say that now there is finally a better way to become a Full-Stack Bassist faster than ever before.
Because for the first time ever, I reflected on my own 2-decades of experience and everything I had to go through to become a Full-Stack Bassist. Plus I also gathered input and insights from the other top instructors we work with here at SBL like Ian Martin Allison, Eric Wills, John Patitucci, Gary Willis, and more…
From there, I broke down what it takes to become a Full-Stack Bassist into just five essential (and manageable) elements of rhythm, harmony, scales, technique, and their application in different musical styles.
Then I put together a training program that walks you step-by-step through these 5 elements. And that transforms you into a confident, gig-ready, Full-Stack bassist faster than ever before.
Introducing...
This is a brand-new curriculum — and the most comprehensive program I’ve ever created.
And it has just one purpose:
To completely transform you into the ultimate Full Stack Bassist — in just 12 short months.
I’ll tell you more about that soon. But first, you need to know that I started out with one clear goal for this program:
What is a Full-Stack Bassist exactly?
- They have total command of their role as a bassist and member of the rhythm section.
- They are a master of timing and feel, and can play with a killer pocket that brings any song to life.
- They can instantly come up with incredible grooves and bass lines, in any genre, for any chord progression.
- They understand the critical elements of harmony, theory, and musical styles to tackle virtually any gig like a pro.
Picture your future as a Full-Stack Bassist
A brand-new, first-of-its-kind curriculum — with no filler
When designing this program I had to be ruthless and cut out everything that wasn’t essential. That means…
Instead, this brand-new curriculum walks you one step at a time through the 5 essential elements you need to play killing bass lines … with impeccable timing and groove … across virtually every style, genre, and chord progression.
And we dedicate an entire module to each of these 5 elements in the program.
Each module is almost like a standalone course in itself. That’s how in-depth and comprehensive this program really is.
Each one has roughly half a dozen individual lectures. Plus they also have supplementary assignment challenges that we’ll talk about in just a moment.
But first let me walk through what you’ll get from the 5 modules inside The Full-Stack Bassist Intensive…
Here’s what you get inside the Full Stack Bassist Intensive
A first-of-its-kind Full-Stack Bassist curriculum
Bass Line Creation (Part 1)
Module 1 gives you a simple and immediately effective system for crafting your own bass lines that you can use for any style of music.
Inside Module 1:
- 5 video lectures breaking down the critical elements of a great bass line
- 30+ playing examples that illuminate the creation process
- Step-by-step guidance on building your bass lines from the ground up
- Simple chromatic formulas that add instant character to a phrase
- 10 professionally produced backing tracks, so you can feel what it’s like to use these chord tones and scales to create killer bass lines and grooves in real-life musical situations
- Easy to read tab and notation for every bass line demonstrated
- And much more…
On top of that, I’ve designed this module to “stack specific skills” one at a time through each of the lectures. (So you can get really confident with each skill before moving onto the next.)
- Lecture 1 - Bass Line and Groove Ingredients
- Lecture 2 - Roots and Chromatic Approaches
- Lecture 3 - Roots, 5ths + Chromatic Mixing
- Lecture 4 - The Triadic Harmony Approach
- Lecture 5 - Building with Seventh Chords and Chromatics
Which means by the end of this module, you will see an immediate and dramatic improvement in your ability to create exciting bass grooves.
And it will only get better as you head into the 2nd module…
Bass Line Creation (Part 2)
Module 2 provides a comprehensive overview for the second set of building blocks you need to create exciting bass grooves and riffs — scales and modes.
Also, this is not your typical course about scales and modes. After all, you’ve probably tried to get command of these scales and modes by brute-force memorization already, which almost never works.
That’s why we’re going to take a completely different approach in this program. First, I have purposefully focused on only the 5 most common and useful scales, modes and pentatonics. And I’ve cut the rest.
Inside Module 2:
- 6 in-depth lectures on each scale and mode, with instruction on how, why, and when to use them.
- Dozens more bass line examples for illustration and guidance
- 6 pro backing tracks for groove practice
- Scott’s personal tips and tricks to add scalar color and shape to lines.
- Legendary bass lines deconstructed for clues to making your own classics
- And an exciting challenge to help you flex your new knowledge
On top of that, we’re going to show you how to master these essential scales and modes by sound instead of memory. And we’ll show you how to put them to use in real musical situations like the pros do.
- Lecture 1 - Why Scales and Modes?
- Lecture 2 - Major Pentatonic Sound and Shapes
- Lecture 3 - Minor Pentatonic Sound and Shapes
- Lecture 4 - Ionian: The Mother of all Modes
- Lecture 5 - Dorian: The Minor 3rd / Major 6th Combination
- Lecture 6 - Mixolydian: The Dominant Scale
So by the end of the first 2 modules you will be able to play through any chord progression you will ever encounter on a gig or session with complete confidence.
The Pro Bassist's Technique Toolkit
Module 3 reveals The Pro Bassist Technique Toolkit, and includes 8 in-depth lectures that cover a handful of simple but vital playing techniques.
And if you have ever seen a player who’s grooving with such an incredible pocket, their fingers dancing across the fretboard with such fluid motion that it seems virtually effortless…
That’s exactly what great technique can do for you. And helping you become that player is what Module 3 is all about.
Inside Module 3:
- 8 lectures that cover the most vital technical areas (plus a few extra must-know skills)
- Over 40 carefully-crafted examples that show exactly how to practice them — the right way! (Including brand-new exercises plus specific bass lines and grooves that will reinforce each of these vital playing techniques for you.)
- The secrets to ultimate plucking- and fretting-hand efficiency
- Articulation Insights: How to lend lyrical character to your notes
- The subtle, yet crucial, art of muting
- 2 killer crash courses in essential pick and slap technique
- And loads more pro backing tracks to put it all into play!
Also to be clear: this module is not about playing super fast lines or acrobatic solos. (Although if you want that ability in the future, these techniques will give you the foundation you need to reach that goal as well.)
Instead, the purpose for this module is to give you the essential few bass techniques that allow you to play your bass with complete freedom. And avoid the common technique shortfalls and hangups that keep most bass players stuck.
- Lecture 1 - Proper Positioning Is Key!
- Lecture 2 - Advancing Your Plucking-Hand Technique
- Lecture 3 - Advancing Your Fretting-Hand Technique
- Lecture 4 - Muting Technique for Sonic Control
- Lecture 5 - Articulation Workouts
- Lecture 6 - Mastering the Pick
- Lecture 7 - Slap Technique Masterclass
- Lecture 8 - Final Thoughts and Tips
By the end of this module, these vital playing techniques will be an effortless part of your bass vocabulary. And you will be able to use them at will to play dynamic bass lines that bring the song to life.
Groove, Time Feel & The Rhythm Section
Module 4 is led by Ian Martin Allison. It dives deep into time keeping, groove, rhythm section concepts, and metronome techniques.
And it will challenge and sharpen every aspect of your bass playing, while also helping you to develop an impeccable sense of internal time and rhythmic precision.
Honestly, the information and concepts taught in this module could be considered the key to everything. That’s a bold statement for sure, but I stand by it. Here’s why:
You can spend years upon years learning all the right notes to play. But without a super-solid time feel and developed sense of groove, none of those notes will make the impact you want!
That’s because as bass players, virtually all the phrases we play are only effective within the context of rhythm, and therefore we need to spend as much time working on this as all the rest.
Inside Module 4:
- 9 lectures featuring nuanced technique breakdowns, complete tab and notation, and backing tracks.
- The matrix of rhythmic structure
- How to develop straight & syncopated bass lines using 8th and 16th notes
- Use of space to let the music breathe
- Ian’s pro insights into playing ahead and behind the beat
- How to swing with a natural groove
- When to play along with the kick drum, plus other ways to create a huge pocket without simply following the kick.
Because solid internalization of time and pocket separates “good” players from truly GREAT players. Simply put, you will get called more, play with better musicians, and have more opportunities if you have groove in your corner.
This module gives it to you.
- Lecture 1 - Understanding and Counting the Grid
- Lecture 2 - Quarter Note Bass Lines
- Lecture 3 - 8th Note Bass Lines
- Lecture 4 - 16th Notes Bass Lines
- Lecture 5 - The Art of Space
- Lecture 6 - To Lock or NOT to Lock with the Kick Drum, that is the Question
- Lecture 7 - Making It Swing
- Lecture 8 - Do All the Baddest Cats Play Behind?
- Lecture 9 - Advanced Rhythm and Metronome Concepts
In other words, this module will enable you to unlock a depth of rhythmic skill set that you have long admired in your favorite players. (And that you’ve always yearned for in your own playing.)
Style Analysis Masterclasses
Module 5 gives you detailed masterclasses for each of 6 of the most common musical genres and styles you will encounter as a bass player.
Plus you’re also going to enjoy a detailed breakdown of the greatest bassists for each style, tonal considerations, bass line and groove creation, and so much more.
- Lecture 1 - The Blues Workshop
- Lecture 2 - The Jazz Essentials Workshop
- Lecture 3 - The Soul, R&B, and Motown Workshop
- Lecture 4 - The Rock Workshop
- Lecture 5 - The Funk Workshop
- Lecture 6 - The Reggae Workshop
And in each lecture, you’re going to be learning about the greatest bassists of that particular style … tonal considerations … bass line and groove creation … and so much more.
Plus you’re going to have multiple style-specific bass lines and groove examples to learn for each style. And as always, I’ve kept this as practical as possible. So I’m also going to provide you with some incredible play-along tracks that let you get a real feel for how to master playing in each of the different styles.
Now these lessons alone would transform most bass players into dialed-in, full-stack musicians…
But I didn’t want to leave anything to chance.
That’s why we added so much more to The Full-Stack Bassist Intensive program.
Assignment Challenges
First, we give you “assignment challenges” within each module to ensure you have the foundation you need to move forward.
That way, you can have total confidence that you have mastered the current module before moving on to the next one.
And that’s not all.
You’ll also have a final project near the end of the program to put your new skills to the test! The final project will be a super-fun way to challenge yourself and advance your playing even further by applying everything you’ve learned to three full songs.
Here’s how it works.
Complete your final project & earn your SBL Full-Stack Bassist Certificate
First, we’ll give you 12 songs in different genres and musical styles to choose from. From there, you’ll pick 3 of your favorites and write your own bass parts using everything you’ve learned on your journey to become a Full-Stack Bassist.
Also, these special, SBL-produced songs are sure to inspire you to experiment with all the nuggets of knowledge you’ve gained along the way.
Then, once you’ve written and practiced your parts and are feeling ready, we’re going to encourage you to record these songs and submit them for review to earn your official Certificate of Completion.
This means, by the end of the program, you’ll have some recorded tunes to hear your own progress. And maybe to play for your friends, family, or anyone else you want.
Plus most important of all, you’ll have solid proof of your new-found status as a Full-Stack Bassist.
I realize this may seem like a daunting amount of effort at first...
And in some ways, that’s a good thing. Because it takes time and effort to become a complete, gig-ready, Full-Stack Bassist who can come up with incredible grooves on the spot in virtually any session or situation.
But I also know that sometimes life gets in the way. And it can be hard to stay consistent with your bass playing in the face of all your other commitments.
52+ weekly guided practice and support sessions
First, your enrollment in The Full-Stack Bassist Intensive includes weekly 1-hour guided practice sessions hosted by a trained SBL instructor — available in multiple time slots convenient for virtually every time zone.
That means every week for the next year, you will be able to join your fellow students in a live video call with a trained SBL instructor. You’ll be able to bring up any challenges or questions you have. And you’ll be able to work through the lessons from the program with a trained instructor by your side to offer real-time support and guidance every step of the way.
Plus every guided practice session will also be recorded. So even if you can’t make one, you can still follow along with the instructor on your own time.
And that means each and every week, you will see your bass playing take a giant leap forward before your very eyes.
Plus it gets better.
Pro-Skills Workshops
You also get access to 6 hour-long Pro-Skills Workshops that cover other topics that will further cement you as a Full-Stack Bassist.
These hour-long live virtual workshops will give you a comprehensive deep-dive into the following topics:
Sound and Tone
The Numbers System

Ear Training 2
Chart Writing
How to Learn a Song – FAST!
The Full-Stack Bassist Intensive gives you everything you need — and nothing you don't.
Because remember, the program includes lifetime access to the world’s only full-stack bassist curriculum with 5 in-depth modules.
And with roughly 30 hours of comprehensive instruction, detailed workbooks, and high-definition audio and video footage, these lessons alone would cost $1,196.00 or more on their own.
Plus you will also leave the program with your Full-Stack Bassist certificate of completion. And similar music certification programs force you to pay a non-refundable enrollment fee of up to $175.00.
On top of that, you will also enjoy weekly guided practice sessions hosted by a vetted SBL instructor, scheduled to accommodate virtually every time zone. That means you get at least 52 guided practice sessions with a top-tier bass instructor by your side. Which easily makes these practice sessions worth $2,600.00.
And don’t forget about the Pro Skill Workshops. Because similar online workshops from places like Berklee cost $99.00 each. So the Pro Skill Workshops included with The Full-Stack Bassist Intensive would cost you at least $594.00 by themselves.

That’s why I’m going to give you one final gift — but only when you join before the timer on this page reaches zero.
The Ultimate Practice Course For Bassists
This 6-lesson mini workshop shows you how to squeeze twice the results out of your practice routine — in half the time.
In The Ultimate Practice Course For Bassists, you’ll discover…
- How you can make virtually everything you practice “stick” right away — simply by adopting the mindset of your local seamstress…
- The surprising way you can turn the 80/20 rule on its head to achieve 10 times the improvement in a fraction of the time…
- Why the most important part of your practice routine actually has nothing to do with playing…and everything to do with writing…
- Plus a whole lot more...
So the value for this course is easily $97.00.
Yet once again, you can get it for free when you claim your spot in The Full-Stack Bassist Intensive before the timer on this page reaches zero.

But if you’re here right now,
there’s still time to make a different choice.
You can say YES! to your future as a Full-Stack Bassist. And you can claim your seat as a Founding Member for The Full-Stack Bassist Intensive for one easy payment of $497 today.
And just imagine how much fun you’ll have when you can come up with killer bass grooves on the spot — almost without thinking about it…
Imagine the satisfaction you’ll get when your bass parts consistently lock in with the band and bring the song to life. Since you can finally play with an amazing sense of rhythm, timing, and feel.

FAQs
The Full Stack Bassist Intensive is a comprehensive program that takes your bass playing to a whole new level, designed to be significantly more in-depth than our regular Accelerator courses. While Accelerator programs focus on helping you master a specific area of bass playing, the Full Stack Bassist Intensive goes broader and deeper. This program offers a well-rounded approach that builds up every aspect of your bass skills, from bass-line and groove creation, technique and theory to improvisation and musicality. It's all about helping you grow across the board rather than just in a targeted skill.
One key difference is the scale: the Intensive has a far greater amount of material, structured to keep you motivated and progressing for an entire year. Each week includes a guided practice session to keep you accountable and make learning enjoyable. Additionally, unlike our regular programs, the Intensive culminates in a final project that allows you to bring together everything you've learned and showcase your growth.
In short, if you're looking for a focused boost in a particular skill, an SBL Accelerator is ideal. But if you're ready for a full-spectrum transformation in your bass playing, the Full Stack Bassist Intensive offers the tools, structure, and depth to get you there.
Our Membership is like an all-you-can-eat buffet for bass education, offering a vast library of courses from top bassists and instructors around the world. It’s ideal for players who want variety and flexibility in their learning—whether you’re interested in exploring different genres, techniques, or tips from the pros, the Membership gives you the freedom to pick and choose from a wide selection of courses at your own pace. Think of it as a versatile tool for building your skills in multiple areas as and when you feel inspired.
In contrast, the Full Stack Bassist Intensive is a highly structured, year-long program focused on elevating your bass playing across every skill level. Unlike the Membership’s broad access, the Intensive provides a step-by-step, guided journey designed to create transformative progress. It’s about systematically improving your playing through consistent practice, weekly practice sessions for accountability, and a final project to showcase your development. This program combines the best of focused learning and practical application, offering more direct, hands-on guidance than the flexible Membership approach.
In short, if you’re looking for a tailored, deep dive into improving your skills holistically, the Full Stack Bassist Intensive is your best choice. If you prefer the freedom to explore various topics and techniques from a range of great bassists, the Membership offers a broad selection to match your interests.
Which is exactly what we give you in this brand-new, first-of-its-kind Full-Stack Bassist Intensive 12-month training and certification program.
Your first lesson goes live on Monday, 25 November.
Absolutely. When you join The Full-Stack Bassist Intensive program, you will have 24/7 lifetime access to all of the recorded lectures, digital workbooks, backing tracks, tab and notation, and other learning materials. And you will also be able to access the live elements of the program — like the weekly virtual practice sessions — for an entire year after you join.
The Full-Stack Bassist intensive is designed to be a 12-month certification program. That’s why we offer you an entire year of live guided practice sessions and other hands-on support.
However you also enjoy lifetime access to the video lectures, PDF workbooks, and other materials from the core curriculum. So you can always choose to go at a pace that is more comfortable for you and your current skill level.
To get the absolute maximum from this program we recommend 20-30 minutes per day practice time, at least 5 days per week. If you have less than that, you will still get great results, but things will take a little longer.
Every module is like a comprehensive, standalone course in itself. Each one contains roughly 6 total hours of instruction, with each lecture lasting approximately 30 to 60 minutes.
The lectures within each module of the Full-Stack Bassist curriculum and the Pro-Skills Workshops are on-demand videos that you can watch at your convenience, and will be released on a regular schedule as you move through the program.
Weekly practice sessions are held every Tuesday in two time zones, beginning on November 26th. Please note that session times are subject to change depending on instructor availability and student attendance.
Yes, all of the live calls for The Full-Stack Bassist Intensive will be recorded and posted in the course portal.
All you need is your current bass rig and either a smartphone or computer. No special equipment required!
You’ll need your computer or smartphone (with internet access) to access the course material and coaching sessions.
Although the exercises for this program were demonstrated on a 4-string bass, they are totally transferable to 5 and 6-string basses. This is because the core concept is based on shapes that can be played on multiple locations on the fingerboard, no matter how many strings your bass has… you’ve got a 10-string bass… we’ve got you covered! ;)
If you're a total beginner, this program is not for you. You should be able to play the instrument already and have a basic understanding of things like arpeggios and scales.
Absolutely! This program is a complete methodology that will work for any style of music.
If you're the kind of bass player who's not willing to practice their craft and expects to get better by simply watching more and more videos hoping that it'll raise their game, this program is not for you.
Enrollment for this program will close Monday, 25 November at 11:59 pm PT.
We don’t have a timetable for when the next enrollment will be. It will likely be at least 1 year — and possibly more.
Also, whenever we open the doors again, you will likely have to pay at least twice as much to get in. Because right now we are offering you a one-time, Founding Member rate of only $497 when you claim your spot in the first edition of the program before time expires. So don’t miss your chance to lock in the lowest tuition we will ever offer.
Yes! You can join The Full-Stack Bassist Intensive today for one easy payment of $497. Or you can split that into 4 easy installments of just $150 per month.
Yes! In fact, I’m so confident in this program, I am going to stick my neck out and offer the longest guarantee in SBL history. And I’m going to let you take the entire 12-month program with absolutely no risk!
That means now you must become the ultimate Full-Stack Bassist by the end of this program. Or you get your money back.
Just show us that you’ve been going through all the course materials, challenges, and pro skills workshops without making progress. We will give you a fast and courteous refund of your entire investment.
